Drawing-based optical sourcing
Custom Negative Cylindrical Lenses
Review negative cylindrical lenses for expansion or divergence control in one axis. Plano-concave cylindrical and other negative cylinder forms are specified by the powered-axis prescription, beam requirements and mechanical orientation.
Control negative power without losing the axis reference
Specify the negative focal length or concave cylinder radius at a stated wavelength. Provide a drawing that identifies the powered direction and the mechanical datum used for installation. A swapped axis changes the beam-shaping result even when the part fits the holder.
Include beam dimensions and divergence in both axes. For a matched positive-negative arrangement, identify the two focal lengths, element sequence and separation. Share the optical layout if the output divergence or magnification is an acceptance requirement.
Component sourcing or a complete beam-shaping arrangement?
An individual negative cylinder changes divergence in its powered axis. A defined anamorphic output needs the surrounding optical arrangement to be specified and assessed. State whether the RFQ covers a component, a matched pair or a mounted optical group.
Applications and system inputs
- One-axis beam expansion
- Negative elements in anamorphic pairs
- Drawing-defined beam-divergence control
Share the operating conditions and required optical performance for your application. Material, geometry and inspection scope are reviewed together before quotation.
Negative Cylindrical Lenses specification checklist
The table identifies the inputs needed to review this lens family. The approved drawing and quotation define the supplied configuration, tolerances and documentation.
| Specification | Information for your drawing or RFQ |
|---|---|
| Power definition | Negative powered-axis EFL or concave radius |
| Beam inputs | Wavelength, dimensions and divergence in both axes |
| Pair / group | Companion element, sequence, spacing and output criterion |
| Outline | Length, width, center / edge thickness and clear aperture |
| Axis datums | Orientation marking, wedge and rotation tolerance |
| Coating / test | Required band, incidence conditions and two-axis inspection |
Send a complete lens RFQ
- Attach the controlled optical drawing or system layout, including revision and units.
- State the wavelength, substrate grade, coating and operating environment.
- Identify optical and mechanical acceptance limits and required test records.
- Provide prototype quantity, expected production demand and requested delivery date.
Include the destination market, packaging requirements and whether you need loose elements, a matched set or a mounted assembly. If a parameter is still open, identify it as a design-review item.
Send the drawing and application inputs so the selected manufacturing route can be reviewed. Material availability, MOQ, lead time and achievable tolerances are confirmed for your project.
Negative Cylindrical Lenses FAQ
Can a negative cylinder be paired with a positive cylinder?
Provide both prescriptions, spacing and the target beam dimensions and divergence so they can be reviewed together.
Are round and rectangular outlines equivalent?
The outline affects mounting and usable aperture. Identify the required clear aperture and mechanical form on the drawing.
